The Prism Quality Teacher Program proposes that there are four major facets of the quality teacher. From our research and our experience, these are the four key areas that teachers need to comply with, to a high standard, to be considered a quality teacher.
- Professional Identity and Commitment;
- Professional Knowledge and Practice;
- Professional Relationships and Engagement;
- Reflection and Professional Learning
Teachers focus and reflect on these facets and then use an action inquiry process to highlight the areas needing further attention and development. In setting clear professional learning plans, teachers gather evidence of their development and align it with the Professional Standards for Teachers. This process offers the quality teacher the opportunity for continuous improvement and for appropriate recognition of their professional practice.
